"The Pere Marquette River is an almost entirely wild or non-hatchery fishery. If you want the fishing to get better
you have to release fish so that they can spawn and make new fish."
Pere Marquette Fishing Report and Baldwin Fishing Report (3/31/2011)
Level – average (918 cfs and falling) Temp – around 40 Color – colored Fishing – steelhead good
The PM River is back to normal after a week or more of high water and cold weather. All indications are that good numbers of new steelhead have made their way upstream and we are expecting good fishing for the upcoming week. Egg flies and egg beads have been producing best. The nymph bite should get going again with warmer weather predicted. We're still getting a few steelhead on streamers. Kevin
Manistee Fishing Report (3/31/2011)
Level – low average (1570 cfs and falling/stable) Temp – 38 Color – some color Fishing – steelhead good
The Manistee River is fishing better each week as new fish enter the river and the temps slowly rise. Eggs are producing best accompanied by the typical stone, hex and caddis nymphs. Expect good things on the Manistee as temps head up a few more degree in the coming weeks.
The Martinez's Psycho Stonefly is a good option for a nymph with a bit more color than natural patterns. Kevin
Muskgon Fishing Report (3/31/2011)
Level – low average (2520 cfs and falling/stable) Temp – 37 Color – color Fishing – trout good, steelhead good
Water flow is below seasonal average. Some steelhead spawning is taking place. Stoneflies are hatching, watch for trout fishing to pick-up as the water warms. Sunny weather has forced the steelhead into the holes and dark cover. Look for steelhead success using wiggle hex's and eggs. Phil
Hamlin Lake Fishing Report (3/31/2011) – Ice is still covering most of Hamlin Lake but is not considered safe. The one photo below shows that everything is ice free and open from the dam at Ludington State Park toward Hamlin Lake. Saw a small steelhead hooked and landed while I was standing on the dam at Ludington State Park earlier in the week. Kevin

Ludington Fishing Report
Pere Marquette Lake Fishing Report (3/31/2011) – PM Lake is completely open though we had to ice-break a few mornings ago after a very cold and still night. Perch are being caught off the Cross in the middle of the lake. The river mouth seems to have gone dead the last few days. Kevin
Ludington Pier Fishing Report (3/31/2011) – Steelhead and brown trout are being caught around the Ludington piers and harbor area. A few sunny days, warm nighttime temps and a breeze from the west should build warm water and better the fishing. Kevin
Pentwater Fishing Report (3/31/2011) – No information for this week.
