Michigan Fishing Reports
"Everyone had a great time!!!!!!!!!! I've seen approx. 30-40 different guides (between Alaska, Michigan, NY, Costa Rica, Colorado, Florida and Ohio) in the last 15 years, and Kevin Morlock is probably one of the best, ever.
Feel free to use me as a reference." Kevin Walsh, Ohio

At this time we are unable to keep this page updated but luckily we have up to date fishing reports on our blog Third Coast Fly.
We do our best to provide fishing reports that are current, informative and most of all honest. Our fishing reports tell it like it is, if our guides haven't fished an area recently we try to get first hand information from other guides and anglers that we trust.
Our fishing guides cover a wide area across Michigan including Lake Michigan, Beaver Island, Straights of Mackinaw, Traverse City, Pere Marquette River, Muskegon River, Manistee River, Ludington, Pentwater and Hamlin Lake. We're happy to catch just about any fish but primarily focus on salmon, steelhead, trout, smallmouth bass, northern pike, walleye and carp.
Below you will find our most recent fishing reports and then a list of archived reports. We also have daily updates on Third Coast Fly.

"The Pere Marquette River is an almost entirely wild or non-hatchery fishery. If you want the fishing to get better
you have to release fish so that they can spawn and make new fish."
Pere Marquette Fishing Report and Baldwin Fishing Report (4/22/2011)
Level – high (1260 cfs, rising) Temp – 40s to 50 Color – colored to dirty Fishing – steelhead ok, trout good
Rough weather moved over the Pere Marquette the past week, with the worst being snow and wind. The water level has headed back up with the bottom 3/4th of the PM high and dirty, the flies only is perfect. Steelhead fishing has slowed from the previous week but good trout fishing has helped fill in the gaps. I think we will see another good wave of steelhead for next week.
Many of the nice trout have bit streamers and large nymphs versus eggs, while the steelhead have been all over the eggs. Kevin
Manistee Fishing Report (4/22/2011)
Level – above average (2220 cfs, stable) Temp – 45 Color – some color Fishing – steelhead good
Steelhead numbers on the Manistee remain strong and with the rising temps the trout are also getting active. Water conditions are perfect. Eggs have produced best with the standard nymphs getting some action as well. Kevin
Muskegon Fishing Report (4/22/2011)
Level – high (4280 cfs, stable) Temp – 43 Color – colored Fishing – steelhead good
Steelhead have begun to show up in the classic spawning gravel areas. Try stoneflies, hex nymphs and eggs. Don't forget to fish the "dark" water behind steelhead beds for trout that are eating eggs!
Phil's version of an Afternoon Delight steelhead fly, one of his favorites for the Muskegon. Phil
Hamlin Lake Fishing Report (4/22/2011) – No information. Kevin

Ludington Fishing Report
Pere Marquette Lake Fishing Report (4/22/2011) – Perch are being caught out from the Sand Dock on wigglers and wax worms. Steve
Ludington Pier and Near-Shore Fishing Report (4/15/2011) – Brown trout and steelhead off the pier and beeches. Spring is a great time for big aggressive fish in shallow water. Keep an eye on the Coastwatch surface temp site for Ludington and look for warm pockets of water. Kevin
Pentwater Fishing Report (4/22/2011) – No information for this week.
